Acceptable Forms of ID
Acceptable forms of ID include:
-
- U.S. issued Driver’s License (any state)
- U.S. issued Special ID Card (non-driver’s license identification)
- Military ID
- Passport (physical copy)
More information can be found at: https://www.idscanner.com/id-scanner-law/north-carolina-affirmative-defense-law/
Unacceptable Forms of ID
Unfortunately, the following forms of ID are not accepted:
- Non-U.S. issued licenses
- Pictures of licenses or passports
- Duke ID cards
If you have one of the above unacceptable forms of ID, getting a North Carolina ID is fairly simple. The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles offers identification cards for customers who require a photo ID but do not require a driver license.
